Introduction

DinoWars covers a special segment of Play2Earn projects – blockchain-based battle royale games. The main goal of DinoWars 🦖 is to bring the traditional mechanics of Free2Play games to the Play2Earn segment and base them on a smart contract system to maintain a transparent reward scheme and stable game balance.

There are plenty of Free2Play projects that have huge communities and mindblowing success stories, but each of them has its own problems. For instance, World of Warcraft is losing ground and needs constant updates, and Lineage is hopelessly out of date and is slowly turning into a fairly niche game. CounterStrike, in its turn, is always at the top of game lists and has high replayability but a rather narrow audience profile.

But despite some issues, each of these games is a compelling representative of the gaming segment, so DinoWars 🦖 aims to adopt their strengths and eliminate their weaknesses. We believe that only in this way will it be possible to bring the Free2Play game to the Play2Earn segment, emphasizing replayability and player engagement.

 

Game start

Each player can join a match at any time during the game. At this moment, the game's internal matching engine will select a match for the player - or, more precisely, choose similar requests from other players. The game clearly maintains a balance: each player has a certain level, thanks to his game character and equipment, so the engine selects only players with a matching level. Therefore, the player can not worry - he will always play only against equal opponents. One of the main principles of DinoWars 🦖 is that you win at the expense of your skill and developed game strategy, and not at the expense of donations or balance violations.

The player must also choose a game character to participate in the match. From the beginning, every DinoWars user gets the first three game characters for free even if he joins the game for the first time. Therefore, everyone has a choice about how to organize their game strategy.

So, the game's internal engine matches equal players into the current match. In general, a battle royale match is designed for 15 players and lasts up to 6 minutes. The mechanics are simple: choose weapons, use skills and bonuses, bypass NPCs on the map, and defeat other players. Be the last one out of the match and get a reward.

Besides the rewards for participating in the match, the player gets a chance to get new equipment for his characters and the necessary components for leveling up.

To participate in the match, the player will use in-game tokens. And users receive rewards in it as well. In-game tokens are implemented on-chain, accessible directly in the player's wallet. Therefore, everyone has complete control over their expenses and rewards.

Before the start of the match, during the match search stage, the player deposits a certain number of game tokens (according to his level) into the game reward pool for the match. Thus, 15 players will make 15 deposits and form their own reward pool. At the same time, the DinoWars platform keeps a small fee from the game pool as a service fee.

Players are eliminated from the match one by one - this is how a battle royal is arranged. The first 10 eliminated players will remain without awards - they will have the opportunity to try their hand at the next match. According to the ranking system, the last 5 players will receive rewards from the pool proportionally. The fifth person to be eliminated gets their deposit back. The winner of the match gets a chance to increase his primary deposit several times. Besides, the higher your level is, the greater the reward in a game will be (with opponents of the same level). Players are constantly encouraged to increase their level in the game and power up their characters to get more profit.

Since the entire game token supply is fully backed by stablecoin, the winners of the match actually receive valuable rewards, which they can later withdraw from the platform and use as they see fit.

One of the main principles of DinoWars 🦖 is that every player gets the opportunity to play anywhere and without obstacles. Therefore, in order to reduce the number of steps a new player has to take, DinoWars provides a support program.

Each new player who enters the game for the first time receives in-game tokens for free: the amount will be sufficient to cover participation in three game matches. But the user gets these tokens for targeted actions necessary for the platform. For example - for social activities, like reposts and subscriptions to social networks (though tasks may vary). Therefore, everyone can start earning on their skills without additional deposits.

In order to preserve the game balance and internal economy, the free tokens the player receives are non-liquid. They cannot be taken out of the platform, but they can be used in full to participate in matches or to pay commissions in other in-game services. At the same time, all awards received in matches over spent non-liquid in-game tokens are valuable and are fully owned by the player.

 

Game mechanics

To participate in matches, the player chooses one of the in-game characters. Each character is unique and has its own set of skills and a special appearance. Several unique strategies can be developed based on the character. At the initial stage of release, each DinoWars 🦖 participant will have 3 characters to choose from There are plans for at least 15 characters to be released monthly with subsequent updates. New characters will be available through lottery and event prizes or purchased on the marketplace with DINW tokens.

Each character has a unique set of skills, so the player can form his own strategy both for playing for each character and against opponents. The sheer variety of characters and the variety of techniques that can be built with them is one of the pillars of DinoWars 🦖 replayability. This is the pillar on which the community will be built, with its forums, concurrency, debates, and discussions.

All new characters will be made as NFTs and minted on-chain. In this way, each player will really own their characters. And any upgrades and additions will also be recorded on-chain. Of course, the first three free game characters cannot be transferred or sold on the marketplace - and therefore, cannot be lost and will always be available to the player.

DinoWars has plans for a set of different skins as a bonus to each player. Those will not affect the game mechanics but are aimed at raising the individuality of each player.

The entire battle royale in DinoWars takes place on a large map that corresponds to the style of the prehistoric world. The map is divided into several unique locations with its own bonuses and buffs, with different chances of encountering them during the gameplay.

All players will compete on a large map corresponding to the prehistoric world's style. The map is divided into several terrains of different natures. Such an approach creates diversity for the application of different game strategies. Each terrain contains unique landscapes that you can use in your tactics. Bushes and lakes for ambushes, rocks and trees to hide behind, narrow paths where you can set traps, and vast areas for duels.

At the same time, according to the battle royale tradition, the game map decreases as the match progresses. So you can choose a risky strategy near the edge of the map to remain the last unnoticed.

In addition, DinoWars 🦖 plans many events for its players, taking into account seasonal and holiday events. And so, there will be many more exciting additions to the map and its locations, with updates tied to additional matchmaking strategies and extra bonuses at event locations.

Each terrain of the game map contains hostile NPCs that will make life difficult for players and bring new elements to the gameplay. However, NPCs are not there for nothing - defeating any of them gives you a chance to get a weapon for the match, pick up a bonus, or buff.

Also, a unique character - the main boss - is always on the map. This is a difficult opponent, maybe even more difficult than other players. But it does offer a chance to win wearable equipment for your character of random rarity. The received item is immediately minted as an NFT. So you get it in any case, even if you are eliminated from the match without rewards - and you can use it immediately after the match ends.

This makes the gameplay even more diverse and interesting because each player will have a chance to build his strategy considering his favorite location on the map. And even with the help of grinding and farming on NPCs. Thus, the unique, balanced game mechanics work entirely for the player, allowing him to win at the expense of his skills and the planned strategy of matches participation.

All players start the match with "bare hands" armed only with their strategy. However, each player will choose a weapon that will affect the fighting style during the round. Or even vice versa - each user will look for a weapon that best suits his character. These gameplay elements will drop from defeated players, from NPCs, or appear in special locations on the map. Weapons are scattered on the map and have their own level - wooden, silver, gold, or diamond. In addition to weapons, players can get bonuses and special kits such as a first-aid kit, a shield, additional ammunition, temporary reinforcements, etc. Taking into account the variety of possible bonuses and their distinction by rarity levels, we get a huge number of options for participating in the match.

Of course, these items work only during the match - this is the additional interest of the players. For each match, you get to use different strategies, and you will modify your tactics to the current conditions.

The player can add sockets to each game character. These special additions can be opened with DINW token and are applied to each game character separately. They open additional opportunities for each character. Special skills and bonuses can be added to each socket, which will help during fights in the match.

A decent Play2Earn game requires a transparent internal economy and rewards mechanism. These factors influence the quality of the gameplay and how easily users can start playing. And this directly affects the number of players and the size of the community.

As we have previously said when talking about the Play2Earn issues, many games build their mechanics either around a complex and non-transparent farming process, or based on token price speculations, or focusing on the profit from NFT sales. Each of these schemes might be beneficial in a way, but they all have two major flaws: they don't mesh well with the game plot and mechanics and offer unstable sources of income for players. That is, the game loses both the play part and the earn part.

With all that said, we want to assure you that DinoWars 🦖 is fully aware of the need for a transparent non-speculative decentralized reward scheme and revenue sources. We aim to develop and bring such a system to our community.

In order to avoid any possibility of speculative influence on the game mechanics and to decouple the in-game economy from the external influence of the volatile market, DinoWars introduces a two-token system.

Thus, we have a clear separation:

1️⃣ One token controls the protocol but has no effect on game mechanics.

2️⃣ The second token is fully integrated into the game and has no volatility or outside influence.

DinoWars 🦖 has an internal game token. It is detached from the outside world and is used only within the game mechanics. The main idea behind such a token is to eliminate the possibility of speculation due to volatility, reduce the influence of donation schemes and make the game balanced for all participants.

Yet, it still should be noted that the token is a smart contract, so each user can always access their balance, and all the rewards belong exclusively to them.

The in-game token has a fixed price guaranteed by the protocol. DinoWars provides a smart contract that serves as a gateway between in-game and out-of-game processes. The gateway allows users to buy tokens, preserving stablecoins on the contract. Thus, the in-game token is fully backed by stablecoins.

This is especially important since the gateway works both ways – the player can withdraw their profit (earned in the form of in-game tokens) to stablecoin. And with full coverage of the entire in-game token supply, players get a guaranteed opportunity to withdraw the winnings.

Please note that the platform keeps a small fee for providing the service of converting in-game tokens to stablecoins.

NFT

DinoWars solves the main problem of the Play2Earn world - NFT as a revenue source.

The excessive protocol dependence on NFTs often leads to a rapid capitalization drop in case NFTs are not an integral part of the game mechanics. NFT should not dictate the terms and rules of the game. They have to serve the players. That's why, unlike many Play2Earn games, DinoWars is not based on NFT - but rather uses them as an additional tool.

Players will be able to receive new characters, power-ups, bonuses and artifacts that will help form a unique strategy for the game. DinoWars will launch a NFT marketplace for players where they will be able to buy or exchange new features, but not for flipping and NFT speculation, but in order to improve the strategy of the game, change approaches, make your equipment more powerful and fit your strategy.

Token Value from Protocol Economy

1️⃣ Buy-backs: up to 50% of protocol income is used to buy DINW tokens on the market.

2️⃣ Burns: governance can vote to burn up to 25% of bought back tokens.

3️⃣ Staking Rewards: governance can vote that up to 50% of market bought tokens are distributed to stakers.

4️⃣ Locks: staked tokens require a 16-day cooldown for exiting, and bypassing this cooldown carries an 18% fee on the principal stake. Up to 50% of the cooldown fees are placed into a lottery pool, divided among 2 stakers biweekly.

5️⃣ Locks of unvested tokens: unvested tokens can be locked till for a certain period. Participants will receive up to 100% more staking rewards and unique items

6️⃣ Liquidity Incentives: LP tokens get a 50% higher weight in staking rewards.

 

Token Value in Protocol Usage

According to our financial model, the project includes several sources of income.

1.1. Items: Players need to have more powerful items to level up in order to beat more powerful NPCs and players.

Each item is represented as Non-Fungible-Token which can be equipped, withdrawn or sold on the secondary market.

Users have the opportunity to purchase items with stablecoins which comes to the company reserve.

1.2. Skills: Players who want to change their game style are able to purchase skill slots to create skill sets.

Price of the next skill slot will incrementally increase by 30-100%, in line with protocol maturity and in-game balance.

Users have the opportunity to purchase skill slots with DINW which comes to the company reserve.

 

2️⃣ Battle Royale Income

2.1. Participation Fees: Players who participate in Battle Royale mode can earn stablecoins from the Prize Pool by taking first places.

Players need to pay a participation fee which will form Prize Pool. Players with higher levels are able to participate in Battle Royale with higher Participation Fee.

DinoWars will claim the 2% from all participation fees. This 2% figure will incrementally increase every quarter by 0.5-3%, in line with protocol maturity and robustness.

    2️⃣ The development of the game has already started (for both Android and iOS platforms). First in line are animations and core game mechanics. Development is carried out on Unity 3D.

    3️⃣ The vision of the decentralized part of the project and the first version of the smart contract architecture have already been prepared.

Token metrics

DinoWars has own unique tokenomics. The presented tokenomics numbers provide information on how the governance token DINW will be distributed among all protocol participants. The reference date from the start of Tokenomics is the TGE, which is scheduled for Q3, 2023.

The TGE is tied to the release time of the DinoWars beta version. It sets the date of the vesting start, the first game activities, the entry of players into the game, the beta testing, in-game token launch, etc. The total token supply will be 50 million DINW tokens, which will be issued in the BSC network.

 

1️⃣ Early contributors

22% of the token supply is allocated for the private round of the tokensale scheduled for Q1, 2023. Participants of the private round will have a cliff of 3 months starting from TGE. As early investors, they benefit from a 10% token split at the end of the cliff, followed by 9-month linear vesting. Cliff is designed to have an end just after the beta testing (which is followed by the stable release of DinoWars). Participants of the private round will have a separate vesting smart contract with all the specified parameters.

 

2️⃣ Launchpad

4% of the token supply is allocated to the early DinoWars community, namely to participants of the public token sale round. As with private investors, participants in the public round will have a cliff of 3 months from TGE followed by linear vesting of 9 months. The estimated cliff will end after beta testing until the stable release of the game. The vesting period is carefully to match the game stabilization time. So it ends just at the moment when the protocol mechanics balance the emission and the utility of the DINW token.

 

3️⃣ Team

The development of DinoWars has already started, and the development team is already working on the creation of the game. However, the DinoWars roadmap is not limited to a year and a half, and the DinoWars team has many more features in store. Therefore, a special token pool of 11% has been allocated. It will stimulate future development (after the release of the first version of the game and its stabilization). These tokens have a cliff of one year from the time of TGE with subsequent vesting of one and a half years. This period is calculated to exclude any project risks from the market's oversaturation - therefore, this part of the tokens will be locked in a smart contract.

 

4️⃣ Partnership

This is part of the tokens to incentivize early partners of the project and advisors. DinoWars team values those who have supported the development since its inception. So, it is a small pool of 3% for marketing and technical advisors. They have a 6-month lock with one-year linear vesting after it.

 

5️⃣ Marketing

To increase adoption, DinoWars has additional marketing activities planned:

  • establishment of partnerships;

  • cross-program support with partner protocols and platforms;

  • work with influencers;

  • expansion of project adoption and additional incentivization of the community through social activities, airdrops, etc.

The pool of DINW tokens for marketing activities contains only 5% of the supply and is also subject to vesting for one year. It is an essential part of the DinoWars protocol, which will play its role during the game's adoption.

 

6️⃣ Liquidity

The team will use this part of the tokens to create exchange liquidity pairs. Work on establishing liquidity begins from the moment of TGE, and 10% of the token supply is allocated for this. However, this part of the tokens is also subject to vesting, which will last nine months. But in order to generate enough liquidity for the protocol to function and for availability to the first players in the DinoWars beta version, 15% of this pool will be unlocked at the time of TGE.

 

7️⃣ Players

This is a part of tokens prepared for prizes in lotteries, events, and activities for game mechanics. This part of the game mechanics also starts with a cliff in 2 months. So it will last during the beta testing of the first version of DinoWars and will start together with the first set of events in the game. The program is planned for two and a half years. Afterward, the reward pool enters a balanced round of replenishment from commissions within the protocol.

 

8️⃣ Treasury

It is a portion of tokens canned for the upcoming DinoWars expansion. It acts as a reserve pool that can be used to replenish rewards, further development, or other activities related to the growth of the protocol. 5% of the supply will be locked up for one year with further vesting in 18 months.
